Company History:
Sanding Ovations has over 40 years of combined experience in sand sculpting. The company is owned and operated by Treasure Island, Florida residents Dan Doubleday and Meredith Corson.
Together they travel the world creating sand sculptures for hundreds of clients each year. Between the two, they hold 15 World Champion medals and have won or placed in every major competition.
Sanding Ovations has sculpted commissioned pieces for clients such as the NFL Super Bowl, NCAA Final Four, the Outback Bowl, The St. Petersburg Bowl, Budweiser, Pepsi, Coca Cola, Frito Lay, SeaWorld, Disney and Busch Gardens just to name a few.
Sanding Ovations appeared on all three episodes of Sand Blasters, The Extreme Sand Sculpting Competition on the Travel Channel and they have beed featured on the Today Show with Al Roker and Anne Curry. You might have seen Al Roker’s head carved out of sand by Dan Doubleday.
Dan was discovered sculpting on a beach in Santa Cruz, CA. His technique was so advanced that he was invited to his first master event just months later.
He entered his first World Championship in ’96 where he won the coveted Sculptors Choice award, being the first North American to ever take that honor.
He now holds 8 World Champion medals and more Sculptors Choice awards than any other solo sculptor on the international circuit. Dan constantly pushes the envelope with new ideas and strives for perfection in human anatomy.
Meredith has been working with sand for the past 25 years. She was the first woman ever to win a Solo medal at the World Championships in 1999, and now holds 7 World Champion medals.
Meredith and Dan are competitors on the Travel Channels’ “Sand Blasters”, The Extreme Sand Sculpting Competition. In 1996 she met Dan Doubleday at a competition and they teamed up to become Sanding Ovations. The company is based out of Treasure Island, Florida where they reside.
